I have had the pleasure of working with JJ since 2015. JJ is a phenomenal coach who will push you to achieve your best physique without sacrificing your long-term health. He is always positive, empathetic, understanding, and kind but knows how to give you that extra push if need be to hit the desired target. He won’t always tell you what you want to hear as an athlete, but he will tell you what you need to hear in the nicest way possible. Our last prep together for CPA Ottawa 2022 was by far our best! The prep took a larger calorie deficit and more cardio than before, but the results spoke for themselves. Our result was a 20-pound weight loss transformation in 12 weeks, along with placing 4th in a strong wellness lineup. JJ did a fantastic job of listening to my feedback and helping me during the prep. I’m looking forward to seeing what magic we can create in 2023 as we take on another prep together! In July 2020, just a few months after turning 40, I embarked on the biggest transformation of my life. I was fortunate to be accepted into Michelle MacDonald’s transformation program. Michelle took me under her wing in January 2018. That July, I competed on stage by the time I turned 40! It was my first introduction to macro-based nutrition and a bodybuilding approach to lifting. “Michelle has helped me achieve what I didn’t believe I could after becoming a mom and a 40-year-old woman.”

I started working with Michelle in the summer of 2019 after following her in the fitness industry and social media for about five years. Up to age 40, I’d lifted some weights and maintained my weight decently after three pregnancies, but then things came crashing down, likely from being too restrictive with my calories and exercise choices. During the 6-month program, there was a focus on mindset and working through limits that kept us from reaching goals we were capable of achieving. I built some muscle, got leaner, and felt great in my clothing. I then went on to do her YHH 2.0 6-month program, where I did a small reverse diet and another small cut for that upcoming summer. One year later, I was in love with the results of lifting heaving weights and following planned nutrition.

Her coaching has been invaluable to me. So much so that, at 45, I decided to compete in two back-to-back WBFF bikini competitions during the summer of 2021. I won at the amateur level and received my WBFF pro card, and then went on to compete at the world stage four weeks later against some seasoned competition. While I didn’t place in August, I improved my stage presence and confidence.

Michelle has helped me achieve what I didn’t believe I could after becoming a mom and a 40-year-old woman. Once you realize those barriers in your mind are put there by you, pretty much anything is possible if you believe it. I’m truly grateful for all she has taught me and the path she is paving for so many women!
